Dinosaurs Alive!

Since I've been in Canada I have seen lots of scary things, such as the ginger cat I share my lodgings with, if I am not careful he picks me up and carries me off to his kitty condo.  At our visit to the zoo where we saw an exhibit called Dinosaurs Alive, it took a bit of convincing to make me believe that these enormous reptiles were not real.  They were huge, loud and moved albeit by not actually taking footsteps.  Once I overcame my horror at seeing these beasts I was quite happy to have my picture taken with some of them:
This afternoon I found out that the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit will return again this spring/summer as it was a popular attraction at the zoo.  An article published Dec 1/16 said the actual opening date is not yet known but that it is coming.  The exhibit helped increased attendance by 18% over the year before and 335,000 people and one Bilby came to see the exhibit.  We certainly enjoyed our visit.

A Little Catching Up

Even though Mr. Bilby' Blog has been a little - ok a lot quiet, Mr Bilby has been busy being out and about.  At the end of summer (boy does that seem like a long time ago) Mr. Bilby helped to pick up some lovely farmers market veggies in Beausejour.  We have long since eaten the veggies and they were very good.  Hopefully we will be able to pick up some more this summer when we are back at the lake.
Before the weather chased us indoors for winter (as you can appreciate Mr. Bilby loves heat since his home is in the desert, so he really dislikes the cold Manitoba winters) we managed to spend a day at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.
The Journey to Churchill Exhibit showcases birds and animals found in the Churchill region of Northern Manitoba.  On the way to seeing the stars of the exhibit we are able to see snowy owls, caribou and wolves.

Unfortunately the polar bears in the Journey to Churchill Exhibit were not terribly active.  The  seals however were very playful and were a joy to watch:
We spent so long in the Journey to Churchill that it left plenty of the zoo to visit on another day.  As an added attraction at the zoo there was a Dinosaurs Alive Exhibit and since it was only going to be a the zoo a little while longer we decided we ought to check it out as well.  We will continue with the dinosaurs with the next blog post.
